Coronado Photographer — Crown City by the Sea

Coronado's pristine beaches and historic Hotel del Coronado provide world-class settings for luxury wedding and portrait photography. I've shot Coronado sessions in every season and I know exactly where to catch the best light.

Why I love shooting in Coronado

Coronado is my most-requested wedding city, and every session I shoot here I still find a new corner. Hotel del's beach frontage is famous for a reason, but I'll pull couples to the north lawn or Centennial Park for portraits that don't look like every other Coronado wedding on Instagram. Ferry Landing at sunset with the downtown skyline behind you is undefeated.

On the light: Sunset here lights up the sandstone cliffs across the bay, throwing pink and orange onto faces from an unexpected direction.

Logistics worth knowing: Beach permits are required for weddings on Coronado beach and I file them for every wedding client at least 30 days out.

Landmarks & neighborhoods

Couples and families I've worked with in Coronado love landmarks like Hotel del Coronado, Coronado Beach, Coronado Bridge, and neighborhoods including Coronado Village, The Shores, Coronado Cays. Each brings its own texture to a session — historic charm, ocean breeze, or family-friendly open space. Tell me which neighborhood you live in or where you got engaged and I'll build the shoot around it.

Best times to shoot

Coronado Photography FAQs

Do we need a permit to shoot on Coronado beach?

For a small portrait session (under 12 people, no props), no. For weddings or larger family groups, yes — I handle the permit for wedding clients as part of the pre-wedding coordination.

When's the best time to shoot at Hotel del Coronado?

Weekday mornings for portraits — the beach is quieter and staff are more flexible. For sunset, arrive 90 minutes before official sunset so we have time to work multiple corners.

Where's the best portrait spot on Coronado besides the Del?

Centennial Park at sunset for skyline framing, the north-end beach past Naval Air Station for wide empty sand, and Glorietta Bay Park for calm-water reflections.

Do you charge extra to travel to Coronado?

No — every session and wedding includes free travel to all 26 San Diego County cities, including Coronado.

How do I book a Coronado session?

Send an inquiry through the site or call me at 760-539-9932. I reply within 24 hours with availability and pricing for your date. A 25% retainer holds the date once you're ready.
