Why I love shooting in Imperial Beach

Imperial Beach is my favorite quiet-beach city. The pier is 1,491 feet long and gives you leading lines you can't replicate anywhere else in San Diego. The Tijuana Estuary at low tide reveals a landscape most locals don't know exists — glassy channels, migratory birds, dune grass.

On the light: The pier catches morning light from the south side and evening light from the north — I shoot both sides on the same session for variety.

Logistics worth knowing: The estuary is a wildlife refuge — I stick to designated trails and never bring props that could disturb nesting areas.
