Hillcrest is color and energy. My favorite sessions here start at the pride mural on University Avenue and end in Balboa Park's cactus garden — same session, two totally different moods. Hillcrest is where I shoot couples who want their session to look like their real life, not a magazine.
On the light: The commercial corridor faces west, so shop windows and signage light up warm from 5pm onward in summer.
Logistics worth knowing: Metered street parking on University fills fast on Friday and Saturday nights — I book weekday sessions or Sunday mornings when possible.
