South Park is the quieter cousin of North Park and I love it for exactly that reason. Grape Street Park's tree canopy is one of the best natural softboxes in the county, and the tree-lined residential streets photograph like a movie set.
On the light: The mature canopy over Grape Street and the residential blocks holds soft even light all afternoon, unlike the harsh open lots in other neighborhoods.
Logistics worth knowing: Grape Street Park is a dog park — I plan family sessions to the north lawn away from off-leash zones so kids and photos both stay calm.
